Trapisti

Delibasino selo is a place where you can see the beginnings of the industry in Banja Luka connected to Trappists’ coming to this area in 1869. As a special Catholic order of priests (which originated in the French monastery La Trape), they received permission from the Turkish authorities to establish a community in this area. Soon, they built a real-agricultural craft-industrial plant, developing industries of beer, cheese, pasta, fabric and they built a monastery, a hydroelectric power plant, a mill, a print shop, a brickyard, a blacksmith shop, a quarry, a bakery and other facilities. The Trappist order had a specific vow of silence which indicated work and prayer.
