City of East Sarajevo

City of East Sarajevo is the administrative, economic, cultural, university, tourist and sports centre of the eastern part of the Republic of Srpska. It cinsists of the following municipalities: Pale, Sokolac, East Ilidža, East Old Town, East New Sarajevo and Trnovo, while the administrative seat is in Pale. To be surrounded by thick forests, feel healthy and pleasant mountain climate, be amazed by landscape seen from the rocky peaks, by the sound of silence and ripple of mountain rivers, and yet to be less than an hour away from the city bustle –  means to be in East Sarajevo.

Forests, meadows and lush vegetation full of birds and wildlife, while clear streams and rivers swarm with trout and crayfish – these are true challenges for lovers of hunting and fishing. Kadino vrelo, in the upper reach of Prača River, is a right place for a nice picnic in nature, with plenty of local cuisine specialities and forest fruit. Rocks and steep cliffs of Mt. Jahorina, Mt. Romanija and Mt. Trebević are a paradise for hikers, climbers, paraglider pilots and other adventurers.

Extraordinary configuration of terrain in Mt. Jahorina with tracks for downhill skiing, as well as gentle slopes, favourable climate and abundance of quality snow  put this mountain among the most beautiful and best-known ski centres in the Republic of Srpska and the region. Caves Orlovača, Ledenjača and Novakova cave are pearls in the womb of the earth – a challenge for speleologists, researchers and visitors.

Remains of ancient civilizations, necropoli, ruins of old castles, Orthodox churches and monasteries are the time machine that not only brings joy, but also offers peace and composure.
