Rogatica through history
Human settlements in the area are from prehistoric age. After a certain interruption in the continuity of settlement, people have continued to settle the area through different historical periods until today. Regarding its past and in terms of Slavic settlements, this area belongs to the region of the Byzantine-Oriental heritage.
Rogatica, as a village and urban centre, is first mentioned in official documents in 1425, and many ruins and other documents indicate that inhabiting this area started in prehistoric and ancient times.
