The Otrhodox Church of Saint George – Vjenčac, Nevesinje

The wooden church dedicated to St. George is located on Vjenčac site, the medieval city located on a dominant position above Nevesinje. It is assumed that a church was there in the Middle Ages as well.
The Šipovac Brotherhood, which acts through the registered Association “Šipovac” obtained the consent and blessing of the Bishop of Zahumlje-Herzegovina and Littoral, Rev. Grigorius to be the patrons of the church dedicated to St. George in this medieval city. to be the patrons of the church dedicated to St. George in this medieval city. It is because the Šipovac family originate from Nevesinje that they decided to have the church built there, as a gift to people of Nevesinje, where many families, as well as they themselves, celebrate St. George as their patron saint. The church was consecrated on August 9, 2015.
The modern design of the church of Saint George is very specific in appearance and location, and yet in spirit of the Serbian Orthodox Church tradition. The unique style of the wooden church located on cascade platforms with ponds, a viewpoint and an additional facility.
