Bijeljina

Bijeljina is situated in the north-eastern part of Republic of Srpska, and it is a centre of Semberija region.

The archaeological findings show that Semberija region was inhabited even in the prehistoric times. Bijeljina is easy recognisable for its vast central square, which beauty is enriched with the pleasant atmosphere of the Town park.

Three kilometres from Bijeljina, there is an ethno-village of Stanišići which, apart from numerous examples of the cultural heritage, is adorned with the recently consecrated St Nicola’s monastery.

Close to Bijeljina, there is a thermal spa – Dvorovi, while the Drina river provides excellent conditions for swimming and fishing.

As places of interest, it is important to mention orthodox temples: Tavna monastery with the Holy Trinity church within, which is located at the origin of the Tavna rivulet, 18 km from Bijeljina, monastery of St Vasilije of Ostrog – dedicated to Saint Vasilije the Miracle-Worker and Dragaljevac monastery.
