Old town Klobuk

Klobuk is located on the border between Herzegovina and Montenegro. This place was the scene of major global historical events over the past few centuries. The eponymous old town fortress is the oldest one in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and even Napoleon’s troops got under its walls. It was founded in the 9th century, and was continuously a part of the Serbian medieval state. The Old Town of Klobuk keeps the graves of the Battle of Kosovo heroes and, due to fierce resistance to the Ottomans, some historians call it the Serbian Masada. Today there are only remains of walls from the Ottoman period, when the old town was finally conquered and destroyed by the Austro-Hungarian army.
