Rogatica
Rogatica municipality stretches over the middle-eastern part of Republic of Srpska and is an area of exceptional beauty, hilly and mountainous terrain intersected with evergreen and deciduous forest and clear mountain rivers abundant in fish. Together with a rich cultural and historical heritage, these areas make Rogatica an excellent destination.
The first mentioning of Rogatica as a settlement and urban centre dates back to the 15th century. The town was named after a family of a similar name – Rogatić, and was also referred to as Çelebi Pazar in the 16th century, during the Ottoman rule. Numerous stećak tombstones in the surroundings witness the history of the area.
