Šamac
Municipality of Šamac is located in the northeastern part of Republic of Srpska and covers the central part of Posavina. Due to exceptionally favourable position it has, Šamac occupies an extremely important strategic and geographic position in South-East Europe.
It is about 10 km along the main road from the highway Belgrade – Zagreb. The favourable geographical position provides an opportunity for development of transit tourism. The transport centre ‘Luka’ (Port) was built on the River Sava, together with a pier and points of land and river transport.
City of Šamac is also a significant rail transport point, since the railway Ploče – Sarajevo – Šamac passes through the town and continues over the border to Vinkovci (in Croatia), and further on to Western Europe.
