Tara Rafting
Foča municipality is famous for rafting on Tara and Drina rivers. Tara River, with its 80-km long canyon, is one of the most beautiful rivers in Europe. It has the deepest canyon in Europe, which is 1300 metres deep and is second in depth after the famous Grand Canyon in Colorado. The river water is very clean and is the largest natural drinkable water reservoir in Europe, the reason the river is called ‘Tear of Europe’. The last 25 km of the river flows through Foča municipality.
There is a total of 16 registered camps in the municipality to accommodate around 1000 campers.
Rafting is becoming more and more popular tourist activity and is one of the most popular activity of adventure tourism lovers.
Every descent is different in time and experience. The most attractive part that is about 20 km long, going from Brštanovica to Šćepan Polje, is descended in 30-45 min in April, while it takes 3 – 4 hours to descent in August. It all depends on the month of the year, water level and speed, number of crew members etc.
