Mountaineering in Romanija
The first alpine ascent on Mount Romanija dates back to 1920, when the Djevojačka stijena (Maid’s Rock), popularly called ‘Đeva’ (Maiden) was climbed. Since then, steep cliffs of the legendary mountain have become a sort of training ground for both beginner climbers and those who want some “real” climbing challenges.
High-level certified instructors in courses organized by Mountaineering – Environmental Association “Romanija”, in cooperation with the Mountaineering Association of the Republic of Srpska, will enable you for a short time to enjoy the unusual rock climbing adrenaline pleasures.
At the foot of Romanija Rocks (cliffs) is the mountain lodge named Stajna, where you can relax, refresh and get ready for new ventures enjoying the campfire and lots of local food and drinks.
The place Jezero (Lake) is situated in the Pliva River valley, halfway between Jajce and Šipovo at 430 masl. Specific to this place is that it is located exactly at the mouth of the river Pliva in Great Pliva Lake, surrounded by a beautiful mountain chain. In addition to the Pliva Lakes, two more lakes are in the vicinity – Veliki and Mali Đol, places extremely popular for fishermen.
Besides, this place offers excellent conditions for paragliding, mountaineering and mountain biking.
